I'm Hope McCormack, a junior recurve archer from Staffordshire.
I started archery in August 2025 because I enjoyed the challenge of trying to make every arrow better than the last. What started as something I enjoyed has developed into a sport I am really passionate about.
I'm now competing at regional and national level, working with Archery GB coaches and finding out what it takes to become a better athlete.
I'm still learning, still improving and still working out how far I can take it.

Into the Woods! My First Field Archery Adventure 🌳🏹
From shooting arrows as far as possible at my first Flight competition to shooting between trees at my first Field competition — October has certainly been full of surprises!
I absolutely loved my first experience of field archery at Merlin Field Archers. Every target was different, the woodland was beautiful, and somehow I came away as the 2026 West Midlands U14 Field Champion!
My score has also been submitted for county, regional and national U14 field record consideration, so fingers crossed! 🤞
And I might have beaten my dad by over 150 points too... but who's counting? 😂

Gold Tier 2 U15 Mixed Pairs (Archery GB Youth Festival 2026)
Silver U15 Female Trio Recurve Team (Archery GB Youth Festival 2026). The Youth Festival gave me a fantastic opportunity to compete, learn and test myself against other young archers. I'm really proud to come away with a Gold and Silver.
Latest Club, County and Region Result - WMAS v EMAS, WMAS Junior team win!
Just 5 points off my personal best for 900 40 round, finished in 4th place U14 Female Recurve.
WMAS/CWAA Junior Championships inc WMAS Jnr Intercounties. 2nd place.
Hard fought 2nd place in the Bristol IV and smashed my previous personal best by 33!

The journey
It's about more than the score. Archery has taught me that improvement doesn't always happen in big jumps.
Sometimes it's a better group, recovering after a bad end or beating a personal best. Other times, it's simply learning something that you know will make you better next time.
I'm learning to focus on the next arrow.
